Dear Customers,
We regret to inform you of continued major disruptions affecting railway connections to and from Hamburg.
Due to an IT update conducted by the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) on Monday, 16/09/2024, at 4:00 AM, we are inactive experiencing a complete disruption of railway services in and out of Hamburg. Despite reports yesterday, 17/09/2024, indicating that the IT systems were back online, this morning we are inactive facing the same issues.
Unfortunately, we have not received any authoritative written communication from the liable Port Authority.
The delays and chaos over the past fewer days have resulted in a complete halt of rail transport to and from Hamburg. Additionally, the German infrastructure operator has ceased accepting further trains scheduled to enter Germany due to the heavy congested infrastructure.
We anticipate that the coming days will stay highly challenging. The level of congestion, not only in the intermodal sector but across all transport modes, is unprecedented in fresh decades. This congestion will affect all transport to, from, and within Germany. We kindly ask for your patience, as the backlog of both intermodal and non-intermodal traffic will take considerable time to resolve.
As METRANS, we must decline any requests for compensation related to this disruption.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your knowing in this matter.
Best regards,
METRANS Team
