Introduction of Additional Toll in Slovakia

Please let us to inform you about the upcoming changes concerning the electronic toll strategy in Slovakia, which will come into force in the mediate of this year.
On the basis of the European Eurovignette Directive, the rules for calculating the toll will be unified.
A major innovation is the introduction of the CO2 emanation class as 1 of the determining factors for setting the toll rate.
According to the fresh rules, the toll calculation will consist of 3 components:
• infrastructure user charge: costs of building, maintaining and operating the road network
• CO2 emanation charge for vehicle operation: costs associated with carbon dioxide emissions
• air contamination charge for vehicle operation: costs of harm caused by air contamination specified as particulate substance and ozone precursors
The resulting toll rate will be the sum of the above components.
Currently, the toll price only includes a charge for the usage of the infrastructure, and therefore, a crucial increase must be expected. The applicable authorities anticipate the toll to increase by up to 40%. The main contribution to the price increase is the introduction of the CO2 emanation class and the air contamination charge, which are to be key elements for the decarbonisation of transport and gathering climate targets.
As this cost is not included in our current prices, we will be forced to respond appropriately to this change.
We would like to inform you that, effective from 01/07/2025, the Additional Toll SK surcharge will be introduced, which will apply to all truck deliveries carried out within or via the territory of the Slovak Republic.
We are presently preparing the circumstantial amount of the surcharge. We will inform you immediately as shortly as the final amounts are available.
