Dear Customers,
Although port terminals have started operating and most of the rail infrastructure is technically passable, it is inactive congested and there is an tremendous backlog of goods waiting to be transported in both directions.
The Hamburg port terminals are now operating with delays of respective hours, but this comes at the cost of many slots being cancelled without replacement or partial restrictions on loading capacity in a given slot. As we have been incapable to accomplish planned capacities to/from all Northern German ports (Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven) for respective days, the number of trains is being restored very slowly. This applies to both exports and imports, as train circulation is severely disrupted and DB InfraGO continues to control and restrict traffic on certain sections of the German railway network. In order to handle the maximum number of train connections and at the same time guarantee the stabilisation of train circulation, it is possible that any DE National trains will not halt at all terminals in Hamburg in the coming period.
This situation is besides causing delays to all services passing through Germany – Rotterdam, Duisburg.
Complications in Gdańsk continue, with the port struggling with ice. Delays are in the scope of 12-15 hours and are besides affecting the regularity of our trains. According to the forecast, the worsened conditions are expected to persist until tomorrow. The number of slots for trucks at BalticHub has been reduced by 70%, which is negatively affecting container transport between Gdańsk and Gdynia.
The Austrian ÖBB has informed us that the repair of the traction line damaged by a crane on the Gattendorf – Kittsee section will be extended until 16/01 at about 4:00 p.m. Due to this, we must usage detours at the border crossing between Slovakia and Austria.
We are in contact with all infrastructure managers and are trying to increase capacity, but due to ongoing congestion, it is not possible to allocate additional capacity at this time. On the contrary, if unavoidable, it is possible that further trains will be cancelled.
