Unfortunately, we are forced to inform you about a serious accident that occurred on the Hamburg – Hannover way this morning.
In the Uelzen area, lightning struck overhead power lines and damaged respective signalling systems. In addition, the storm knocked down a tree and respective another trees are in danger of falling onto the tracks.
Due to the ongoing closures on the corridor to/from the Port of Hamburg in Germany, there is fundamentally no free detour way available at the moment. All lines in northern Germany are presently completely congested. Since the accident occurred in the central area of Hannover, not only home and global trains from/to the Port of Hamburg, but besides from/to the Port of Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven as well as home east-western connections are restricted.
At the moment, it is not known erstwhile the consequences of the storm will be removed and traffic will be restored. We are so incapable to supply you with details of your shipments. However, we are monitoring the situation closely and will inform you as shortly as possible.
