Operational Situation in Northern Europe – Update No. 12

Dear Customers,

The operational situation in the northern part of the METRANS network has not changed importantly so far.

Hamburg: We are inactive facing a shortage of trains for import services. Due to crucial irregularities in rolling stock circulation and infrastructure restrictions, drivers’ working time limits are being exceeded, resulting in mandatory breaks. As a consequence, any import trains have had to be cancelled.
The Eurogate terminal reported delays yesterday caused by a crane outage. Time slots at individual port terminals are being strictly adhered to; no additional volumes are being accepted, and any containers must be shifted to later trains. Port shunting operations stay limited due to insufficient availability of tractor units.

Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven: Delays are occurring due to restrictions on the railway infrastructure.

We would like to emphasize that for northern German ports in general, import services are full booked weeks in advance, and the volume of import shipments accumulated in the ports is highly high.

Germany: any inland terminals are besides experiencing delays due to adverse weather conditions. The Tricon terminal in Nuremberg is presently accepting only export containers for the scheduled train.

Gdańsk: Both the BalticHub terminal and our trains are presently operating on schedule. However, due to operational issues, the terminal will reduce the capacity of planned slots for next week by 30%. As a result, import services are full booked until 19 February 2026. No additional extra train has been allocated so far given the current circumstances.

Rotterdam / Duisburg: Services are operating without major issues.
